Second, Kruger gave the Hawks a huge discount on a bridge deal last summer in order to remain in Chicago—and get paid starting this year.

I was thinking this same thing about Kruger, and I'm glad you mentioned it. I remembered him taking that bridge, and it sounds like he really wants to be in Chicago (who wouldn't?). Interested to see if they do end up dealing him.

Thanks for the update JJ. Stan needs to be decisive - the least attractive outcome for us is to hear a press conference in the next day or two with Stan saying the familiar "we had a lot of conversations with a lot of teams, but ultimately..."

Apologies for reposting, but...

I think the draft starts with Round 1 at 7pm EST. The rest of the draft is tomorrow. As for when the "hot stove" ("ice rink?") starts, that's anyone's guess.

Thanks for the info John. Great stuff as always. Ice that back every couple hours for 20-30 minutes. Got a herniated L5 myself. 20 years now. Forget the heat, go with the ice.

Before we begin talking draft let's take 17 seconds to recognize a very special anniversary.

As for potential left wing options (with the disclaimer that it's predicated on the Hawks moving contracts out - so there is actually cap space) - I'm concerned about the Lucic option. Sure, he's a big body and would be great on the cycle down low - but that comes with the absence of any appreciable speed. We've had multiple discussions about Saad and his speed - and how the 1st line has missed that since his departure. A Lucic signing would seem to gravitate more toward the ANA/LA/STL model - as opposed to the speed game - e.g. PIT/TB - and this is the 1st line we're talking about - so the style of play is significant to the complexion of your team.

I have the picture of the puck going in the net on my wall. The look on the Bruins' player's face (Dennis Seidenberg?) is a classic, "oh noooooooo!"

Thanks JJ. Hope you are feeling better. Young PWF ....Lemieux is my guess. I really hope that stan learned from the sharp debacle Last Summer and doesn't wind up with a deal like Halak and a worthless tool from the Islanders 4 Crawford

You know, I could almost kick myself. I ALWAYS use ice on my lower back. Not sure why I haven't thought to use it on my upper. Maybe because it basically means complete immobilization while you're applying it.

I thought it was a good piece to include when you said Stan Bowman may not have to wait for the "right offer" as he did in the previous two summers. I have to agree with this and really hope he does not hold out. If a decent deal is there, take it, walk, and start addressing the roster needs.

There will definitely be movement today.

Another thing is "a young 2C and a lower line power LW"... Hmmm

>JJ, check out Egoscue for your back and proper postural structural movement
>Not sure they have an office near you -- there is one in Chicago
>Egoscue works wonders for all types of body problems

Great stuff JJ .Agree on Kruger ,he been a loyal soldier hope the team treats him with respect . I believe they will ,does not mean they won't deal him . Just try and send him were he comfortable ,and point out the whole bleak picture ,maybe they already did when signing the new deal . As you said not a big cap hit for a player that does so many things well . Hope the back is better soon , have a bulging disc and sciatica pain myself .A little light yoga and I mean a light seems to keep it in check . good luck

JJ excellent work!

The addition of possibly Lucic or Brouwer would be a fantastic add! Something we havent had in a hawk uniform since playoff Bickell.

I was really impressed by Brouwer in that series with us. Noticeable throughout that series and was a huge pain in arse.

One thing I have heard from a couple of independent sources "close to the Hawks" is that the team is more comfortable than some might imagine handing the #1 goalie job to Scott Darling.

For some reason this makes me

JJ, I've dealt with serious back issues and have some relatives and very good friends who have as well. Happy to share any of our experience if you want. Feel free to pm, email or twitter DM me if you like.
